Starting a Group Ride with Bimba

Bimba’s Group Ride feature allows you to unlock and ride up to 2 bikes from a single account. This makes it easy to share the experience with a friend or family member. As the Group Ride host, you are responsible for ensuring all bikes are used and parked properly.

How to Start a Group Ride

  1. Open the Bimba App:
    • Log in to your account and tap “Group Ride” on the home screen.
  2. Start Your Group Ride:
    • Tap “Start Group Ride” to begin.
  3. Add Bikes:
    • Scan the QR codes on up to 2 bikes to unlock them.
    • Alternatively, tap “Reserve Vehicles” to reserve the bikes for 10 minutes for a fee of ₡1,000 per bike.
  4. Ride Together:
    • Once the bikes are unlocked, enjoy your ride with your group!

How to End a Group Ride

  1. Park Both Bikes Responsibly:
    • Ensure both bikes are parked upright with the kickstands down.
    • Do not block pedestrian walkways, entrances, or driveways.
    • Use the app to locate designated parking areas if required.
  2. End All Rides Simultaneously:
    • Tap “Lock All” in the app to end the ride for both bikes at once.
  3. End Individual Rides:
    • Tap the lock icon next to each bike’s plate ID in the app to end rides one at a time.
  4. Confirm Completion:
    • Check the app for confirmation that all rides have been successfully ended.

Important Details

  • Reservation Time: Reservations last for up to 10 minutes. If the reservation expires, you will need to start a new Group Ride.
  • Parking Guidelines: Bikes must be parked at designated Bimba stations or in approved areas to avoid penalties.
  • Host Responsibility: The Group Ride host is responsible for ensuring both bikes are parked and locked correctly.

Troubleshooting Group Ride Issues

  • Starting Issues:
    • Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
    • Verify that both bikes are within the Service Zone.
    • Make sure your payment method is valid and has sufficient funds.
  • Ending Issues:
    • Check that both bikes are parked within an approved parking area.
    • If a bike fails to lock, reposition it and try again.
