How to Ride Bimba E-Bikes
Riding a Bimba e-bike is simple, convenient, and fun. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and enjoyable ride:
Getting Started
- Stay Connected:
- An active internet connection is required to find, unlock, and end your ride using the Bimba app.
- If you’re at a Bimba station, you can connect to the Wi-Fi provided by the hosting business or use our Bimba hotspot, if available.
- Locate and Unlock Your Bike:
- Use the app to find a nearby bike at one of our stations:
- Ben’z Station: Near La Carmen Beach.
- La Glida Station: Near Banaba Beach.
- Somos Station: Near La Lora Beach.
- Scan the QR code on the bike and tap “Unlock” to begin your ride.
- If the QR code doesn’t scan, you can manually enter it by tapping “abc” in the app.
- Use the app to find a nearby bike at one of our stations:
- Adjust the Seat:
- Use the side clamp or lever under the seat to adjust the seat height. Make sure it’s level with your hip for comfortable riding, and lock it securely.
- Kickstand:
- Push the kickstand up completely so it’s no longer touching the ground.
Safety Check Before Riding
Always inspect your bike before starting your trip:
- Lights: Check if the lights are working.
- Brakes: Squeeze both brake levers to ensure they function properly.
- Tires: Ensure the tires are fully inflated.
- Wires: Look for any loose or hanging wires.
- Seat Height: Confirm the seat is adjusted correctly for you.
- Battery Range: Check the app for the bike’s battery level to ensure it’s sufficient for your ride.
If the bike has any visible damage or issues, report it through the app by selecting the bike and tapping “Report Issue”, then choose another bike to ride.
How to Ride
- Start Pedaling:
- Begin pedaling to activate the electric motor.
- On some bikes, use the throttle to accelerate without pedaling.
- Use the Brakes:
- Squeeze both brake levers to stop safely. Never use your feet to brake.
- Avoid sudden braking or accelerating on slippery surfaces.
- Ride Zones:
- Use the app to check Ride Zones. These zones may affect where you can ride, park, or the bike’s speed.
Ending Your Ride
- Park Responsibly:
- Park your bike at one of Bimba’s designated stations or authorized parking spots. Use the app map if you’re unsure where to park.
- Secure the Bike:
- Push the kickstand down to stabilize the bike.
- On some bikes, manually lock the back wheel:
- Pull the pin from the back fender and insert it into the side wheel lock.
- If the pin doesn’t fit, roll the bike forward slightly and try again until you hear a click.
- End the Ride:
- Tap “End Ride” in the app to officially complete your trip.
Pro Tips
- Use Wi-Fi: Connect to the Wi-Fi provided by the hosting business or the Bimba hotspot if your mobile data is unavailable.
- Always wear a helmet for safety.
- Familiarize yourself with local traffic laws and follow them to avoid fines or penalties.
